Real wealth is measured in your character

Generally when we mention the word wealth, a natural reaction is to think of money.

Yet, the meaning of wealth can be different things to different people, some think of money whilst others might say health is real wealth and with that I could not disagree.

Don’t aim to be popular, aim to be real

This little one liner of wisdom came from none other than Nikki Sixx, the legendary bass player and creative force behind the rock group Motley Crue.

“Don’t aim to be popular, aim to be real”

Nikki used this sentence in reference to advice he would share with musicians and artists on how to approach the art of creativity today.

This got me thinking, surely this is all we should ask of ourselves in anything we do?

Whether in work, in social circles and I suppose all areas of life, should we not aim to be just us, to be real.

It’s easy for all of us to chase the allure of fame and fortune, but what happens if you catch it? Would you be happy with the person you are/ have become to get those things.

Much to ponder…………

Alas what road do we choose? the route of popularity, which is no doubt littered with the crushing of personal values and the continual denial of one’s self or maybe, just maybe we can aim to be real in whatever we do.

Waking up at 5am will not make you successful

This isn’t an anti-productivity post, so all you life coaches and productivity gurus out there can calm down.

In my line of work, I see streams of articles focused on improving people’s capability and supporting in their ongoing development (whatever that means for you).

One point that seems present across many publications I read is the concept of waking up super early to win the day, own the day or destroy the days as some of these have presented it.

This is why the “New Year, New Me” philosophy doesn’t work

That special time of year has arrived once again, no I’m not talking about Christmas as that was last month, I’m talking about the annual January purge with the arrival of the New Year, New Me movement.
