The Most Challenging Things Nobody Tells You About Change

Before we begin:

This has been something I’ve been working on in the background for sometime. Change is such a big part of all our lives and it’s a process we often underestimate.

I’ve seen lots of work that focuses on why change is necessary, which is something I agree with but none of these seem to focus on what I call ‘the real world experience’ of going through change. Far too many focus on the bare bones of what the experience really feels like. Most opt to write pieces regurgitating the same data anyone can find with a quick Google search, which 90% of the time tells you that change is hard (no shit!).

So, I thought after some pretty hefty recent experience with big changes over the last 18 months that I can lend my voice to this topic. But in my approach, you’ll find a no BS, all emotions laid bare account of what I believe is how the majority of us really feel.

This at times will be raw, comical, emotional and profanity laden but ultimately something I feel we can all connect with.

Enjoy my friends.

How To Craft Your Ikigai 生き甲斐

Before we begin:

If you’ve read any of my stuff before, then you’ll know I have a somewhat obsession with human development and the exploration of meaning.

I’m of the opinion that having meaning in life is more important than happiness. Mainly because happiness is an emotional state, one that is fleeting and cannot be sustained. Whereas meaning is something that drives us, gives us a sense of being and will more likely provide the moments of happiness we seek.

It’s not about falling down, it’s about how you get back up

“And why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.”

Failure is a part of life and a large part at that.

The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem

Taken straight from the philosophy of Captain Jack Sparrow and a sentence I regularly visit.

We all have challenges and pressures in life that we can allow to get on top of us and feel like we have no way out. I sometimes allow myself to be driven by anxiety, so over worrying and doomsday scenarios are a daily normality for me.

The ability to take a step back and re-frame what’s actually in front of me in the present has been a powerful tool and most of the time I find that the problem is not the real problem.

Why not take a new approach and re frame your mindset to tackle what you may have convinced yourself to be the unjust problem? maybe you’ll find it was not the real problem after all.
